Metallica is an American heavy metal band from Los Angeles, California, formed in 1981. The band achieved substantial
commercial success with Metallica [1991], which debuted at No.1 on the Billboard 200. With this release the band
expanded its musical direction resulting in an album that appealed to a more mainstream audience. The band has sold an
estimated 100 million records worldwide as of the release of their latest album, 'Death Magnetic'.



'Whiskey In The Jar' was the second single taken from Metallica's 1998 covers album, 'Garage Inc.' and is a remake [in
their own hard rock style] of the traditional Irish drinking song that Thin Lizzy popularized in the '70s. In 2000 at
the 42nd Annual Grammy Awards, Metallica's 'Whiskey In The Jar' won the award for the Best Hard Rock Performance.
Metallica recorded the music video on November 22nd 1998 with director Jonas Akerlund who also recorded the 'Turn The
Page' video. The video was shot at a house in Brooklyn, NY and centres around the band performing 'Whiskey In The Jar'
with a alcohol and drug fuelled party/orgy going on in the background.
